Being exposed to many different cultures and languages, to different styles of communication and different media, I have always been fascinated with what remains in communication after all intelligible characteristics of a particular content or style of communication have been eliminated. This is how I started to investigate in 2004 the blind equivalence of content between two different media.
This is a conversation in Danish, a language I do not understand, and a conversation about which I knew nothing until the end of my work on this project. For me the work on Listen to the Music project acts as empirical argument that communication in the absence of understanding content’s meaning is possible, through transposing patterns in another medium.
